ISE - In Search of Excellence
is a Business Students Association formed by some visionary students of the
Department of Business Administration, Jahangirnagar University. This association searches excellence beyond
the scope of excellent. As the business world expands, business studies require
that students should be more vibrant and involved with the diversified scopes of
business. The concept of BBA Program contains a vast orientation of American and
Western culture. It has become the demand of time that business students in a
country like Bangladesh steps on a bridge way that harmonizes their academic
experience with the challenging and competitive business field in home and
abroad. As the name suggests In Search of Excellence is a search engine that
explore a new horizon of innovation and creativity. The journey has just begun.
Nature
ISE is a fully
non-political; established and run for the benefit and welfare of the members
and the society as well. All the activities of ISE are directed towards
materializing the objectives.

Membership
All Student of the Department of Business Administration, Jahangirnagar
University are eligible to be a member of ISE. . To be a member one has to
fill up an entry form with a nominal membership fee Every member has to pay a
little monthly subscription. If any member fails to pay the monthly subscription
for successive two-months his/her membership will become void. But he/she still
has the opportunity to re-enter by filling a new entry form with paying the
dues. Every member must abide by the constitution of the association.
Meetings:
(a)
Executive Meeting
Executive meeting must be
held at least once a week on Wednesday, which will be attended by executive body
members. Seventy percent of the executive members must be present in an
executive meeting to make the meeting valid. Seventy percent of the executive
body members must vote in favor of a resolution for the acceptance. Any
resolution accepted in the executive meeting must be approved by the
“Counselor” for its coming into force. President in constitution with other
executive body members will be able to invite two person of the department out
side the executive body to attend an executive meeting. But they won’t have
any voting rights. Only the members of the executive body have the same voting
right.
(b)
General Meeting
A meeting of the executive
body members with the general members will be called general meeting. At least
one general meeting must be held on the last Wednesday of a month. Any
resolution passed in the general meeting with two0third majority must be
accepted by the executive body. Any resolution rejected in the executive meeting
can be placed on the general meeting by any executive member for its
reconstruction. Any resolution rejected successively two times in general
meeting never be raised in future. This constitution must be passed inn the
general meeting with three-fourth majority.
Convening and Conducting Meetings
An executive meeting will
be called by the President and a general meeting will be called by the General
Secretary in constitution with the President. Every meeting beyond schedule will
be called “off-scheduled” meeting. Every proceeding and discussion inn any
meeting will be in English. President has the right to call any
“off-scheduled” meeting. President will preside over all meetings. In the
absence of President, Vice-President will preside over the meeting. And if the
Vice-President is absent, in that case General Secretary will preside. In the
absence of the above-mentioned “trio” any member of the executive body will
preside over a meeting. In any meeting, a member must express his/her opinion
with approval from the President of the meeting.
A general meeting must be
held on the last academic day of each semester, which will be called
“get-together”.
Keeping
Records of Meeting
Minutes of the resolutions and proceedings of every meeting
will be recorded in Minutes Book. A member authorized by the General Secretary
will perform the job of Minutes Recording. Minutes signed by the President of
the meeting will validate it.
Quorum in a General Meeting:
Forty percent attendance
of general members is needed for starting a meeting. If 40% members are not
present within half an hour of the scheduled time the meeting will start
automatically.
Fund
Funds of the association
is collected by the way of entry free and monthly subscriptions. Donations and
gifts will also be accepted if possible. Entry fee is Tk.100 and monthly
subscription is Tk.20. Monthly subscription will have to be paid within 15th
of every month. A late fine of Tk.5 can be imposed on the member who will fail
the deadline. If a member fails to pay his monthly subscription within that
month, he/she will have to pay a penalty of Tk.10 in the next month. Treasurer
will maintain the fund and he will place a budget in the general meeting in the
first month of the formation of executive body.
Selection of Executive Body
Executive Body members
will be selected by the general members. The counselor will conduct the
selection procedure.

Arranging film shows

III. Arranging “get-together” program on the last academic day of each
semester.

Academic Function
I. Arranging business related seminars

Arranging workshops

Arranging study discussion

Arranging fake viva with the teachers.
(c) Social Welfare Function

Arranging blood-donation programs

Helping the distressed
III. Taking part in various welfare activities

Publication Function
I. Publishing business magazine at least once in a semester.
II.
Publishing at least one wall magazine in a semester.
Fund Maintenance
Funds of the association
is kept in a commercial bank in the name of the association. Counselor and
Treasurer will maintain the account. But the treasurer will have to get
permission from the “Executive Body” for making any withdrawal.
Amendments:
Any amendments, alteration
and modification of the Constitution will have to be approved in the Executive
Meeting first with three fourth majorities of members attended. Then it must be
approved by the counselor.
Awards
The student will stand first in
a semester will be given an award by the association.
Resignation
Resignation of an executive body member will be accepted after
45 days of the formation of the executive body. All the executive body members
except the President will submit resignation letter to the President and the
President will submit his/her resignation letter to the counselor.
Re-formation
of Executive Body
The Counselor is empowered
to form a new executive body dismantling the current one if he thinks necessary.
